Setting up Commodity Codes in Protean

Commodity Codes help you classify goods for import and export. With this detail, you can check duty to pay, find out about duty reliefs as well as help with goods declarations and other relative paperwork.

To set up Commodity Codes in Protean go to:

Config > Accounts > VAT Rates

Then, switch to the EC VAT tab. Here you can set up the various commodity codes.

Once setup on this screen, you can then apply these code to the respective stock records. So, on any stock record you’d like to apply a commodity code to, click onto the ‘Other’ tab, and at the bottom of the record, you can select the relevant tariff code as necessary.

These codes can then also be specified against Equipment Make/Model combinations. Click directly through to a make/model from an equipment record, or go to:

Config > Equipment > View Make &Models

Then on the ‘Accounts’ tab of the Make/Model record, you can specify the relevant commodity code against the record.
