How do I add attachments to an Equipment record?

It is possible to save attachments to Equipment records that relate to this specific Equipment record. To do this first you will need to make note of where the files need to be saved. Go to:

System > Settings

  • Find the setting ‘Files Directory – Equipment’ and make note of the file path set against it
  • If one has not been set, you will need to set a shared location that is accessible to all Protean users (usually a network file location)
  • Head to this file place in Windows Files Explorer
  • Within this file location create a new folder, setting the ‘Equipment Number’ as the name of the folder
  • Within this folder, save any attachments relevant to this piece of equipment
  • Returning to Protean now, you will be able to access these files from the Equipment record by clicking the ‘Links’ button on an equipment record, and then ‘Files’
