Licence Manager

Licence Manager

  • To get to Licence Manager go to System ➔ Security ➔ Licence Manager

  • The Licence Manager in Protean allows you to see what type of licence you have (Concurrent or Per Seat); how many licences are in use (for Per Seat); which PDA’s are licenced (Sales & Engineers); gives you the ability to enter new licenced PDA and update the Protean Licence Key.
  • A Concurrent Licence means that any number of users can be created and access Protean but only the correctly licenced amount can be in the system at any one time. In the above example the system carries 14 licences: 2 Full, 2 CRM, 6 Engineer PDA and 4 Sales PDA. This means that 2 office users could be in Protean at the same time but no more although any number of people could have a log in and be allowed into Protean.
  • A Per Seat Licence means that the licenced number of users can be set up and allocated (per PC) and that is it. So again if the above example was a Per Seat licence then only 2 users could be set up to access Protean and even if they weren’t logged in, another user could not access Protean.
  • A Full Licence, as the name implies means that you have total access to the Protean Office system. Obviously you may be limited by Access Rights in what you can see and do in Protean. This is the standard Protean Licence User Type.
  • A CRM Licence is a cut down version of the Full Licence designed for salesmen. It allows access to Customer & Prospects, Tasks & Sales Opportunities but not things like Jobs & Maintenance or Hire Contracts.
  • An Engineer PDA Licence is required for each Engineer that you wish to link to Protean via the Protean PDA application.
  • A Sales PDA Licence is required for any Salesman that you wish to able to access Protean using the Sales PDA web application.
