Mobile Device Refresh – Android Battery Optimisation

Occasionally the operating environment on a mobile device can stop the Protean Mobile application performing its  background Job refresh (usually set to happen at 5 minute intervals).

The settings that can cause this, and suggested actions are as listed below. (Please note depending on manufacturer and Android version these settings may be in a slightly different location)

  • Under Settings – Connections – Data Usage – Wi-Fi Data Usage:  Select the Protean App and make sure the ‘allow background data usage’ and ‘Allow app while Date saver on’ are both turned on.
  • Under Settings – Device Maintenance – Battery: Make sure that Protean is under the ‘Unmonitored apps’ and not under the ‘Save Power’ heading.
  • Under Settings – Connections – Data Usage – WiFi Data Storage – Protean App: Hit the green ‘i’ – Battery – make sure that Allow Background Activity’ is set to on.
  • Under Settings – Connections – Data Usage – WiFi Data Storage – Protean App: Hit the green ‘i’ – make sure that ‘Notifications’ is set to allow.
  • Under Settings – Connections – Data Usage: Check that Mobile data is ‘switched on’.
  • Under Settings – Connections – Location: Make sure the locating method is set to ‘high accuracy’.
